The chiropractic qualification is a six-year full-time course, which culminates in a Master of Health Sciences (MHSc) degree in Chiropractic. Chiropractic training in South Africa is offered by The University of Johannesburg (UJ) and Durban University of Technology (DUT).
The course consists of basic sciences, as well as comprehensive courses in anatomy and physiology, including full human dissection, pathology, medical diagnostics, orthopaedic diagnostics, radiography, radiology and clinical chiropractic subjects. Integral to the qualification is a research project and dissertation that has to be compiled and presented. Fifth and sixth year students are required to work in the on-site campus clinic treating members of the public under the supervision of qualified practitioners.
